'Daybreak Ballymoney North Beach' by Maria Dowling
‘It was painted during the first lockdown along with a number of other paintings of the locality which went into my first solo exhibition in the Gaslamp Gallery at the end of July 2020. This painting is a large oil on canvas. It formed the centrepiece of my 'A Summer Place' exhibition. I'm not from the locality but my Grandfather Arthur Riordan was born and brought up in Courtown and in my childhood I spent many happy family camping holidays in Courtown which gave me a love for the beautiful beaches in the area. I think this inspires hope for a brand new day and all the possibilities that offers.’
